President Eisenhower made some remarks about the radical right wing of his party, back in 1954. You can read Iks’s remarks for yourself.

Strangely, Ike seems to be almost describing the Republican Party of today when he talks about how unwelcome certain doctrines would be for Americans. He predicts that if a Party took certain positions, they would not be heard from anymore. He says such extremist views are only shared by a few Texas oil Millionaires (maybe referring to the Hunts?), and that such people are “stupid.”

Ike was also the person who coined the phrase “military industrial complex”. Ike warned Americans to beware of the intertwining of the giant military contractors with government. So Ike has credibility and integrity and plain speaking on his side.
