Rove, Valerie Plame, Wilson, Cooper, Novak - Chronology, with links to more
Posted in Category: Politics-misc

Below is an excerpt from the most comprehensive history of the Valerie Plame - Karl Rove scandal I’ve yet found.

Read the entire article and follow the internal links, and you will have just about the entire available story.

By the way: Does Rove illegally “out” a CIA agent (Wilson’s wife) by telling a reporter just about eveything the reporter would have to know to identify the agent as being a CIA operative, if such info was not already public knowledge? Rove swears he sidn’t say the words “Valerie Plame”, but he apparently DID say the words “Wilson’s Wife” in connection with being a CIA bigshot operative.

Rove’s reporter-confidant wrote an email declaring that Rove talked about how Wilson’s wife was a CIA employee who arranged a WMD related trip for Wilson.

With a little digging, maybe the reporter was able to determine that “Wilson’s Wife” was actually employed in a foreign country in a purely innocent-looking capacity. Yet the reporter now knew that Wilson’s Wife as actually a powerful CIA player.

So, did Rove reveal enough to commit a law violation?

And why isn’t Congress doing an investigation of this national security leak? (We know why - because Congress is Republican and the White House is Republican).

Plame, By Any Other Name
Plame, By Any Other Name

There is no longer any question that top presidential adviser Karl Rove is a key player in the Valerie Plame case.

In fact, what Rove told Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper about Plame is apparently one of the last things special prosecutor Patrick J.Fitzgerald is trying to determine before he wraps up his investigation into whether Plame was illegally outed as a CIA agent.

Newsweek yesterday described e-mails from Cooper relating his July 2003 interview with Rove. Rove’s lawyer, Robert Luskin, told The Washington Post yesterday that his client spoke to Cooper, but did not identify Plame by name. Luskin also said Fitzgerald has told him that Rove is not a target of the probe.

But let’s look at what we can conclude from all this:
