I ran across a very interesting and well written creation science website that I thought I’d pass along.

Answers in Genesis - Creation, Evolution, Christian Apologetics - Homepage of AnswersInGenesis.org.

The authors expend a lot of effort to address issues that cause tension between creationism and evolution.

They also work hard to explain how the earth could be 6,000 years old rather than billions of years old.

Here is the topic index from AnswersInGenesis.org

The authors seem to make a reasonable effort to apply real scientific principles to the evidence. In fact, they go out of their way to discredit some creationists’ arguments and purported evidence for creationism, as representing bad science. See Arguments that creationists should NOT use.

AnswersInGenesis.org is sincere and moderate in approach, and does not disrespect the real scientific community. Instead, the site offers alternative explanations and gives the scientific underpinnings of those explanations.

The site does not reject modern scientific theories, and in fact embraces them to support creationism. Here’s just one example. See Creationism’s problem with the speed of light.

Creationism has a problem explaining the light from distant stars and galaxies. Light takes “time” to travel. Stars are far away, much farther than 6,000 light years. If God created the universe only 6,000 years ago, then God must have created starlight “already in route to earth”. Since light records events, such “created in route” light would appear to be recording events that had not yet happened, and that would make no sense.

Anyway, AnswersInGenesis.org acknowledges that explaining the light from distant stars and galaxies is a challenge for creationism. And the site makes what appears to be a good faith attempt to employ Einstein’s relativity theories to propose a possible answer to the problem. The proposed answer has something to do with Einstein’s explanation of how time slows down or even stops under some circumstances.

[I won’t discuss non-Einstein quantum theories here, some of which postulate that sub-atomic particles can travel backwards in time, which if true causes other problems for the “6,000 year old universe” Creationism position. Here’s an explanation of such a theory: Transactional Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics by John Cramer]

In essence, AnswersInGenesis embraces proven modern scientific theories and laws, and tries to show that modern science is not incompatible with creationism.

It’s well worth a good close look.
