One of the ways Bush has catered to the right wing is to let them have the run of the science. Ask yourself: What kind of entities have a vested interest in downplaying any talk of controlling global warming? Would those entities be aligned with the political left or the political right? There are other examples, mentioned in the media over the last 4 years. Scientists as a block have spoken out on several occasions to try to get media attention to the undermining of real science by the Bush administration and its industry cronies. It’s just politics, but unfortunately it affects us real people in some dramatic ways. To listen to the right wingers, and Limbaugh and Hannity and FoxNews, you’d think that there is debate over whether global warming has occurred recently. That’s just plain wrong. The evidence is incontrovertible that global warming is occurring. The debate is over whether we can do anything about it, reasonably. For example, we can’t ban cars and the burning of coal overnight. The world economy would collapse. So how do we balance everything and come up with a workable plan? You don’t hear the issue framed like that in the spinwit media, but that’s the real issue. CNN.com - Scientists feelstifled by Bush administration - Feb 21, 2005: “WASHINGTON (AP) — The voice of science is being stifled in the Bush administration, with fewer scientists heard in policy discussions and money for research and advanced training being cut, according to panelists at a national science meeting.”
