Pat Robertson is probably a fine pastor. But he does us all a great disservice by his fearmongering and extremist rhetoric against our judiciary.

He is an educated person, and he knows that his rhetoric is nonsense. He is a political man, so he knows that he must spout BS to push his agenda. He causes a lot of us to feel less respect for pastors generally, maybe in the same way as a few extremist judges cause disrespect for the entire judiciary.

The reason Robertson enjoys so much freedom to speak his extremist political mind is because of the pro-freedom rulings issued by judges, who stopped the government from suppressing and controlling free speech.

Federal judges are a more serious threat to America than Al Qaeda and the Sept. 11 terrorists, the Rev. Pat Robertson claimed yesterday.

“Over 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that’s held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings,” Robertson said on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”

“I think we have controlled Al Qaeda,” the 700 Club host said, but warned of “erosion at home” and said judges were creating a “tyranny of oligarchy.”
