Rev. Pat Robertson declares we should assassinate a foreign leader, then lies and denies he said it - that’s a Fatwa, and Bush Admin won’t condemn it
Posted in Category: Theocracy

And so, America’s descent into a kinder gentler theocracy continues, with TV preacher Rev. Pat Robertson calling for, in effect, a Fatwa yet again. And yet again, the Republican leadership refuses to issue a condemnation.

The common people in the USA have for many years wanted very much to see the Islamic governments condemn the outrageous calls for death attribued to Muslim clerics.

Wonder why OUR OWN government remains silent is the face of yet another in a series of calls for death uttered by Rev. Pat Robertson?

Well, here’s why our US Republican Government will not rebuke Robertson and tell everyone to stop listening to him: Robertson supports the Republican machine, and he’s become too powerful to be put in his place. It’s really that freaking simple, folks.

And now, you have a deeper understanding of why Islamic governments might be reluctant to rebuke Muslim clerics for their calls for violence. Look in the mirror, and see the power of politics in our own nation! Imagine the intense pressures that must come to bear on Islamic governments in actual Islamic theocracies, rather than the kinder gentler theocracy we are building in the USA. (That’s no Excuse!)

Turns out that the USA has its own type of violent-hearted clerics, and those clerics have vast influence with the Republican Party because they can deliver the votes, and deliver the power!

Ah, politics. Wouldn’t it be so very nice to see George W. Bush make a statement that he rebukes Pat Robertson for yet again calling for the death of another with which he disagrees politically? How refreshing that would be!

And you can bet your last dollar the Islamic news community has taken note of Bush’s silence, to be thrown back into the USA’s face the next time an Islamic government gets critcised for not rebuking a radical cleric similar.

White House, Religious Right Fail To “Condemn” Robertson’s Fatwa

Religious Right leader and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Robertson declared a fatwa on Aug. 22, calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Surprisingly, the Bush Administration and major Religious Right organizations have failed to condemn the comments.

“If he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it,” Robertson said of Chvez on his show, The 700 Club. “It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. And I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”

Robertson, on his show today, backtracked, claiming he was misinterpreted:
