Dems need the 20 million single women who don’t vote - Unless Roe is overturned
Posted in Category: Politics-misc

Here’s two quick hits: The first shows that 20 million single women don’t vote, and would be solidly Democratic if they did vote.

The second quick hit indicates what I’ve always thought, that a lot of Christians would vote Dem but for abortion. They’ve been convinced that it’s a religious imperative to vote Republican. But with Alito and Roberts on the Supreme Court, the word on the street is that Roe is doomed.

When Roe goes away, so does the Religious Imperative to vote Republican.

Christians can’t easily justify voting for Republicans except over abortion. The tenets of Christian charity and mercy and peace are expressed more in the policies of the Democratic party than the policies of the Republican party. Jesus would be anti-death penalty, anti-war, pro-social programs, etc… The moral imperative might shift.

20 Million single women don’t vote, and would be solidly Democratic

Unmarried women hold solidly progressive views and would vote overwhelmingly for Democratic candidates if they voted regularly, according to a new poll released this week by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner. The survey was sponsored by the Women’s Voices. Women Vote. Action Fund (WVWVAF) to explore the reasons that 20 million single women did not vote in the 2004 election. WVWVAF is dedicated to raising awareness among single women, who represent a quarter of all Americans of voting age.

But young singles don’t vote anyway, and never have been particularly interested in the process. So who else could the Dems get? How about the Christian vote that goes to the Republicans over the abortion issue? …. see below

Daily Kos: What It Comes Down To. Disturbing frankness from a Morals Value Voter

I was joking with one of the Religion teachers about the Christian values that the Bush administration has been portraying and if he teaches ” Republican Moral Values” in his class. He actually sat down next to me and said,I’ll paraphrase here, “Seriously? I really do not like this president. There is a lot of corruption and this war is a disgrace. But I’ll tell you this, as soon as Roe v Wade is reversed I will vote Democratic. That’s all I’m waiting for.”
