“Had Enough?” — Forming a new Dem rallying cry
Posted in Category: Politics-misc

“Had Enough?” It’s the new Democratic rallying cry

The perfume is wearing off the turds —- Despite the perfume sprayed by the Huge Army of radio and TV propagandists, and from the pulpit, the turds have started to stink. The emperor wears no clothes, and large numbers of followers are coming to their senses. the phrase “Had Enough?” is a nice shorthand to explain all this.

“Had Enough?” is not new. Apparently the Republicans ran on that slogan in the 1940s, and maybe even in 1994. See some of the comments in this DailyKos diary for more info about the evolution of the Had Enough? political slogan.

But even though not new, “Had Enough?” seems fresh enough to current ears to be an effective efficient way to encapsulate a large number of concerns about Republican leadership of the nation. See below for a laundry list.

Here are links laying out the Why and the How, in support of the “Had Enough?” slogan

  1. Had Enough? - A Handbook for fighting back. This links to the Amazon listing for a book by James Carville that is the current motivation for the growing netroots support of the “Had Enough?” slogan.
  2. Had Enough? - Waking up a nation. This links to an influential diary on DailyKos laying out a detailed proposed method for common people to inject the “Had Enough?” slogan into everyday communications.
  3. One person’s personal experience spreading the Had Enough message. This links to a brief diary describing the positive feedback one person received when he negan injecting the “Had Enough?” slogan into his everyday communications.

“Had Enough?” works very well as a catchy slogan to underscore a laundry list of major problems the common people have with the Republican stewardship of the nation. A bunch of the below-listed issues resonate across party lines.

… in no particular order …
  • Iraq war lies, and continued perceived failure to properly handle the post-Saddam period
  • Gas prices
  • Tax cuts for the richest
  • Stagnant wages for the common people
  • Out of control borrowing and deficit spending
  • Corruption run rampant because of too much power concentrated in one party rule
  • No work being done on a meaningful solution to our health care crisis for working people
  • The Republican Congress and Senate wasting time on “gay marriage” and “flag burning” rather than addressing real problems of the common people
  • Unqualified political appointees running essential government agencies
  • Torture, secret prisons, worldwide anger against the USA
  • Fear of the intertwining of government and religious fanaticism
  • Perceived uncaring attitude toward the environment
  • Lies and propaganda from the President and his people
