With this post I return to blogging after a necessary respite.

This post is a good one to restart the blogging. Over at DailyKos, a poster has presented a battle plan for the Democrats to challenge Karl Rove’s new offensive.

In the face of many failures and new threats to Bush’s legacy, Karl Rove has launched an offensive. He his plan will receive billions of dollars worth of in-kind advertising from his friends at Fox, and in wingnut radio, and among the pulpits of the religious right.

The Democratic establishment has proven itself to be out of touch with what is necessary to defeat Rove’s aggressive offensive strategies. If you doubt this assertion, look at the political power in Washington.

Therefore, a “new thinking” for Democrats is needed.

DailyKos is the place to explore ways and means to accomplish a “new thinking”.

DailyKos is a powerhouse. It’s chock-full of thoughtful members of the reality based community. Politicians and media figures watch DailyKos closely for ideas.

The post linked-to below is a thoughtful presentation of a method of counter-attack against Rove’s proven-successful methodology.

If you think the counter-attack is over the top in some places, you are correct - the method borrows heavily from Rove’s own playbook.

If you think that Rove (and Fox’s and wingnut radio’s) positions are “reasonable” and “measured”, then you are a wingnut yourself, and I would expect you to be offended by the counter-attack, just as Democrats have been offended for many years by the Rovian attacks on our character and patriotism.

Wingnuts of the left and the right are not persuaded by such attacks. But the middle might be. So attacks have their value at the ballot box.

It’s time for the Democrats to give the right-wing Republican machine a taste of its own medicine.
