Here’s a quick hit, linked below, applauding MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann for his latest “Worst Person in the World” award. This time his victim is a pundit who is a reliable attack dog on behalf of the prosecution side of whatever crime story is being presented.

When I’ve watched Olbermann’s Worst Person Award, I’ve almost always appreciated his take on things. He attacks Bill O’Reilly, Rush, Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, etc …. He attacks them for their irresponsible distortions, and for their misuse of their incredibly powerful public platforms.

With power comes responsibility to use it well, and Olbermann is one of the few media watchdogs, trying to temper the misuse of media power.

The example referenced in the excerpt below is a bit unlike Olbermann’s usual media criticism. In this case, Olbermann is calling-out a media figure for distorting her biography.

God bless Keith Olbermann. He is famously reducing Bill O’Reilly and the Fox Flying Monkeys to the laughing stocks they deserve to be. Now he is branching out. Tonight’s Worst Person in the World is Nancy Grace, possibly the world’s only human being capable of making Rita Cosby look good.

It seems Nancy has been caught committing the right-winger’s common sin of padding the resume. Miss Nancy justifies her authoritarian habit of decrying every defendant as guilty by telling the tragic story of her teenage fiance. Well, things weren’t quite as she has let on. She may have to hire Scooter Libby’s memory loss expert to wriggle out of this one.
